LYA is pleased to again be attending the GSMA’s premier event MWC in Barcelona from February 26 to 29, 2024. Join us to discuss 6G and what comes after 5G, impacts of mobile and connected industries, the future of spectrum awards and auctions and what’s next in ecosystems.
Johanne Lemay will be Moderating a Debate on 6G Spectrum
Johanne Lemay will be addressing important questions regarding what frequencies will be used for the sixth generation, 6G, of mobile technologies and services and how much capacity will be needed. This debate will take place against a backdrop of the recent WRC-23 meeting of the ITU and the release of the US NTIA’s National Spectrum Strategy.
A key area of agreement between international community and the US will be the use of the 7-8 GHz range for mobile (IMT) service, as identified in both the WRC plans for its next conference in 2027 and pegged for study in the NTIA’s National Spectrum Strategy. There is less agreement in other frequency ranges, notably surrounding the 3.5 GHz range – e.g. US focus below 3.4 GHz and above 3.8 GHz – and in the 6-7 GHz range, the Upper 6 GHz portion which will be for licensed mobile service in Europe, but all of which is allocated to unlicensed WiFi in the US. And of course, the question of the role of mmWave frequencies which bring massive capacity but limited reach will continue to be debated.
Join Johanne in Hall 6 at the MWC Debate Stage on February 26, 2024 at 11 am (CET).
